A Letter to Leaders

What Must You Let Go to Finally Fly?

Dear Leader,

I gave a thought to your company and your leadership today. And I have one simple question to ask you as a coach:

What must you let go of so that you can finally fly?

Take 30 seconds. Pause. Reflect. Answer this for yourself.

The Bird That Wants to Fly High

Imagine a bird that dreams of reaching the sky. Yet, tied to its legs are weights—ego, judgments, fear, doubts, self-esteem struggles, and the constant worry of “what if I fail” or “what will people say?”

No matter how strong its wings are, it cannot soar freely until it lets go of those weights.

As leaders, we often find ourselves in the same position. Our dreams are big, our wings are strong, but our mind is heavy.

The Invisible Weights of Leadership

  • Ego – The need to always be right.

  • Judgments – The fear of what others will think.

  • Fear – Fear of failure, rejection, or losing control.

  • Self-Doubt – Questioning whether you’re good enough.

  • Overthinking Consequences – “What if it gets worse?” instead of “What if it works?”

These invisible weights are not visible on balance sheets, but they silently drain energy, clarity, and courage.

Compass Over Watch

Growth isn’t always about moving fast—it’s about moving in the right direction.
The watch tells you the time, but the compass shows you the way.

When leaders let go of these weights, they gain clarity. With clarity comes direction, and with direction comes flight.

A Simple Pause for You

Right now, ask yourself:

👉 What is one thing I must let go of to finally fly?

Take 30 seconds. Write it down. That one thing could be the key to your next level of leadership, growth, and freedom.

Closing Note

Remember, leadership isn’t about carrying everything—it’s about choosing wisely what to hold on to and what to release.

Dear Leader,
You already have the wings. Now it’s time to let go of the weights.

Your Growth Partner,
Chetan Patel
