Dreams, Destiny & Luck

Dreams, Destiny & Luck

In my years of coaching leaders, entrepreneurs, and startups, I’ve learned one unshakable truth:
Dreams remain dreams until action gives them life.

Many speak of destiny and luck. Some wait for them.
But as the Bhagavad Gita teaches, luck is real, but it’s only part of the equation.
Your future is not written only by chance. It’s shaped by the choices you make today.

The Bhagavad Gita on Action & Destiny (18.14)

अधिष्ठानं तथा कर्ता करणं च पृथग्विधम्।
विविधाश्च पृथक्चेष्टा दैवं चैवात्र पञ्चमम्॥

Transliteration:
Adhiṣṭhānaṁ tathā kartā karaṇaṁ ca pṛthag-vidham,
Vividhaś ca pṛthak-ceṣṭā daivaṁ caivātra pañcamam.

Meaning:
“The place of action (environment), the doer, the instruments, the different kinds of efforts, and destiny — these are the five causes of every action.”

The 5 Causes of Success in Your Dreams

  1. Adhishthānam – The environment you operate in
Your positioning, your network, and your readiness.

  2. Kartā – The doer — you
    Your mindset, choices, and accountability.

  3. Kāraṇam – The tools, systems, and resources you use
    Your skills, strategies, and technology.

  4. Ceṣṭā – Your effort and performance
    Consistency, discipline, and execution.

  5. Daivam – Destiny or luck
The unseen factor that amplifies results.

Luck is Only 20% – The Rest is Your Work

From my coaching experience:

  • 20% is luck — timing, divine alignment, unexpected opportunities.

  • 80% is your responsibility — adjusting, acting, and performing until the goal is achieved.

The Gita does not tell us to wait for fortune.
It tells us to work with skill (yogaḥ karmasu kausalam) and without attachment to instant results.

The LUCK Framework to Create Your Own Fortune

L – Leverage
Use your unique talents, skills, and network.

U – Understanding
Recognize opportunities when they appear.

C – Curiosity
Keep exploring, asking, and innovating.

K – Kindness
Help others — goodwill returns in unexpected ways.

Don’t wait for extraordinary opportunities.
Seize common occasions and make them great.

Opportunities can even arrive disguised as misfortune or temporary defeat.

Start today, right where you are.
Yes — distant fields may look greener, but golden opportunities are often already around you.

You can live your dream —
But only if you take responsibility for the 80% that’s in your control,
and let luck amplify the rest.

Dreams are possible. Luck exists. But action wins.
