What is Business? – Corporate Trainer in Surat explains

Hello, my millionaire-minded leaders. I am Chetan Patel, your corporate trainer in Surat.

I have a question for you.

What is Business to you?

What makes your business, well, “a business”?

Have you recognized the foundation of your business yet?

I asked this question to a few leaders of prominent IT companies in Surat. And they have articulated their whole business into a single meaning. Take a look at this clip below:

To me, Business is core values.

Yes, I believe a business that is led based on their core values reach their highest accomplishments.

Core values that are not only documented but articulated and lived by the founder as well as the employees make the foundation of a business.

Your business will be known for your core values.

The core values lay the very foundation of your business.

Reports suggest that businesses who perform and live by core values outperform others by 400%!!

What are your core values?

Core values are the principles that dictate yours’ and your employees’ actions and behavior.

Core values of your business help the world understand what your business, your employees, and you yourself stand for.

I suggest my leaders to not teach your employees the company rules, rather teach them your core values. Your core values will aid your employees to know what is right for them and what is not.

Build actionable core values. I know it’s easy to document, hang them on walls, have them on posters or even coasters, but I suggest you create core values for your business that are actionable.

You must also understand that these core values will become the very culture of your organization.

Remember to define your business on core values that are not built on aspirations or what you want to be in the future but what you are right now and what you live by.

My leaders, if you are confused about finding the core values that drive your business. Here is a small task. Ask yourself these questions:

  1. Why are you running this business for?
  2. What are the things that you as a founder will never forsake your business for?
  3. How would you explain to your employees about the uniqueness of your business and why should they work for your company?
  4. As a business founder, what are you delivering to your clients/customers and why should they come back to you?

I know your answers to these questions must be really elaborative. But that’s okay. Because your core values should never be a “single word”.

For eg. “Authenticity”. If one of your core values is authenticity, then this single word may be vague and can be interpreted into anything. So, use verbs to make it actionable, such as “We are authentic in our actions”. This would give a clear definition. Also, I suggest being elaborative. The more elaborative you are the more understandable you become to others. For instance, Explain your core values as to how authenticity reflects in your business. You could say- “We embody honesty, accountability, transparency, and openness in our works. We count authenticity above all things.”

Now that you have understood the basis of your business, it becomes easy to define “What is business to you?”

To conclude, I would pray and hope that you may be able to define your business in the most distinguished and winning way possible.
