You may have amazed and wondered seeing British or American kids as tiny as 2-year-old speaking English fluently? Haven’t you? The reason is nothing but that they are speaking their mother tongue. Now, how does a child pick up on his/her mother tongue? By constant listening, visualization and assimilation. Any child by the age of 3 or 4 learns their mother tongue or the language their parents or caregiver uses effortlessly. This happened as a result of a persistent process. We also know of kids who live away from their native place grasp 2 to 3 languages by the time they are 5.
If a child can, then why can’t you, my friend? A child’s mind is open to learning and more specifically learning new things. By the age of 5 or 6, the child will imbibe everything that he/she is in constant contact with. This is the sole principle that I urge every aspiring English learning to adhere to.
How to learn English speaking easily?
“Success doesn’t come from what you do intermittently and occasionally. It comes from what you do consistently”
Each one of us seeks the easiest way to achieve success in our tasks. Every ambition will seem easy, only if you perform and execute constantly. This is my word to you! To me, English is not a tough language but the easiest language to learn. Here are my tips and the proven best ways to learn English quickly:
Yes! Start from the end. Think of yourself speaking English fluently and confidently. Refrain yourself from questions like “How to learn English speaking fast?” or “Will I be able to learn English ever?” Stop raising such questions any more. This is what you have been asking yourself and others over these years. It’s time to believe in yourself and visualize yourself as a great English language communicator. Make sure to practice this visualization regularly. Remember what Paulo Coelho said in Alchemist(this book has changed my thoughts, it’s a wonderful book)
“And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
Staying focused needs, a lot of practice. Change your phone or laptop wallpaper into something motivating that reminds you of your end result. Every morning stand in front of the mirror and say out loud that “I can speak English”. These simple steps may seem stupid initially. But they may prove to imbibe your vision into your subconscious mind. Once that is done, then your mind will plan its action towards achieving your vision.
- Breathe English
I may sound insane. Just as you breathe oxygen and just as you are surrounded by oxygen, similarly, surround yourself with English. Listen to English news, songs, or podcasts. Things may go above your head. But keep this listening a continuous process. Songs can enlighten your mind. Check for lyrics online while you play a song. See if you can just read along with the track.
All of us love watching movies. I say watch English movies with English subtitles. This is a best practice to learn English in a fun way. To start with, watch those movies that you had already seen in other language subtitles. This way you know the storyline, but can focus on its English version.
Another way towards English speaking is to start a daily dairy writing habit. Write anything that you can think of. It could be about your day, your vision, your thoughts, a movie you watched the other day or a funny conversation with your friend.
Read English books. Start with something interesting. Maybe Preeti Shenoy’s “Life is what you make of it” or Chetan Bhagat’s “Half-Girlfriend”. Find a book that might catch your interest. Read for 30 minutes a day. Increase the span as you get more involved in the process.
- Learn new words and implement
There are tons of vocabulary websites. My favorite is Vovabulary.com. It is an interactive platform that incorporates games. Start by learning two new words a day. Understand their meaning. See how it is used in a sentence. Now use these words in your daily dairy writing task. See for yourself how can you use them in your daily conversation. Explain the meaning of the new words you learned to a friend. This way your brain will memorize and recollect easily.
- Ask family/friend’s support
Now that you have started learning new words and surrounded yourself with English, you will see yourself been able to think in English. This proves that you have adhered yourself firmly and have been practicing the above step religiously. Once you start to think in English, you will be able to produce words, sentences and eventually start talking in English. Get support from your family and friends who speaks English fluently. Delegate this person to speak only in English to you. Allocate some time of your day to conduct a speaking session. Start with a mere 10 mins. Make sure to speak only and only in English even if it is incorrect. Enhance the process by increasing the session period. Soon you will see English as a natural process in your system.
- Get a coach
If you find hard to stay motivated and focused, then get help. Find a coach, who can help make this slow and steady process of English learning easy and smooth for you. You could either enroll for online English speaking classes or find one locally near you. A coach will lay out a foolproof plan that you will be abided to adhere to. He/She will guide you along the way with the best and tested ways of learning and improving your English language.
With ample coaching centers near you, finding one may be as simple as a pie. Just type “Spoken English classes near me” in Google, an array of centers and coach names will be in front of you. But finding a coach who can make your vision his/her mission may put you in a puddle. Make sure to get valid testimonies of the center/coach. Visit the center once or twice, hear from the students about the quality of the coach and the center. Invest some time in proper research so you don’t get bamboozled.
